This weekend’s Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour will proceed as planned at this stage, although organisers are liaising with competitors potentially affected by the Greater Brisbane lockdown.
Five local government areas in and around the Queensland capital will go into lockdown this evening (17:00 AEST) for a period of three days.
That period therefore ends on the eve of track activity commencing at Mount Panorama.
“The Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 hour is aware of the potential impact the Brisbane lockdown may have on teams and competitors entered for the event,” read a statement from organisers.
“We are in communication with those currently located in areas designated a hotspot by the Queensland Government and are working through what impact it may have on their participation, as well as monitoring any New South Wales Government restrictions in place for visitors from that area.
“Our planning for the event continues and at this stage there are no changes to our plans for on-track action to commence on Friday.”
As well as the headline production car race, the Bathurst 6 Hour event features rounds of Supercheap Auto TCR Australia and Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia, the latter of which includes an entry from the Brisbane-based Triple Eight Race Engineering.
Track activity is set to conclude on Sunday afternoon, although it should be noted that the following day, being Easter Monday, is a national public holiday and could therefore be conceivably used as a back-up.
Brisbane’s lockdown will be reviewed by the Queensland Government on Wednesday.
